Apply to become an Undergraduate Research Assistant (RA) in the FountainLab!

Requirements:

  • You must have an interest in animal cognition, behavioral neuroscience, or both and a willingness to work with rats in research projects.

  • You must have an overall GPA of 3.0 or acceptable classroom course grades in the previous two semesters.

  • You must register for the course, PSYC 31498 "Undergraduate Research," for a minimum of 3 credit hours unless an exception is granted in advance.
  • You agree to work an average of 9-10 hours per week in the laboratory according to a mutually-agreed schedule.  Because animal testing is generally conducted seven days per week for the entire semester, weekend times are also available for you to work in the lab if you don't have sufficient hours available during the week.  We will discuss scheduling during your interview.

  • You should attend weekly lab meetings unless you have an unavoidable conflict.

  • You agree to be reliable and punctual for laboratory duties.  You also agree to follow all rules and procedures carefully to the best of your ability for the sake of the integrity of our experiments.  Failure to do so will lead to dismissal from the lab and a potential grade of "Unsatisfactory" in the "Undergraduate Research" course.  On the other hand, your commitment to the research and attention to detail will be rewarded by a strong letter or recommendation to help you achieve your career goals.
